Not to Judge

The better you are at something, the harder it is to be patient with someone who isn't. A person who is always on time can't understand lateness, and one who is careful with every detail judges those who aren't. Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky asks why the Torah places Avraham's lavish hospitality right beside the destruction of Sdom, and why Avraham, of all people, argues on behalf of Sdom's people. A mashal of two closed doors, with a beautiful voice behind one and a poor voice behind the other, holds the key.
