Ep. 36 · Rosh Hashana · 19 min · 2018-09-09

The Two Hats of Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah is the Day of Judgment, and yet there is almost no vidui and hardly a mention of sin in the davening. The same day is also when we crown Hashem as King, and the Vilna Gaon would jump for joy. Why put two such different themes on one day, and why would a judgment day leave out asking forgiveness? Rabbi Asaf Prisman answers both, then takes a reader's questions about Avraham Avinu and mercy. A family whose children could not find shidduchim, and a noisy construction job upstairs, bring it down to what Hashem is looking for from us.
