Exploring the Essence of Purim
The Megillah has a horse, a tree and a feast, so why did Chazal name the holiday after Haman's lottery? Why is Hashem's name missing from the whole Megillah? And if the Jews saw the sea split, why does the Gemara say they re-accepted the Torah out of love only because of the miracles of Purim? One idea from Amalek ties these together, and with it the reasons for costumes and for reading the Megillah twice. A story about a crowded bus stop in Bnei Brak, a long wait and a bus driver's decision gives the idea a very ordinary face.
